In the summer 2019 I found a German manuscript from 1912 in the open market. It was written by Franciszek Lesczowski- a Polish boy at the age of 17. He summarised Goethe’s poem „Hermann und Dorothea”. I typed it to the computer and translated it from German to Polish using Google translator. I barely know German so it was hard to recognize all the words. The word system and later the translator changed words so I ended up with a ridiculous, pointless story. I corrected it in grammar and gave it a narrative line. Later I translated the new version from Polish to English and fixed it again. At the end of the process, the story was very different than the one written by Goethe. I bought figures in second hand shop to illustrate the characters. I combined illustrations with the text in a form of a book.

I wanted to make a theatre play based on the book. I wrote a script and I organised an audition at the Academy. I was looking for
people to play 10 characters, but also trees, stones and flowers.

I didn’t make the theatre play because the Covid times came, so at the end of the academic year I took the 10 figures and I went to Mainz (Germany) were the original plot of the story was set. I left them by the river. I made a ‘road video’ about it.
